D. Burchart-Korol, M.Kruczek, Central Mining Institute, Katowice, Poland M. Pichlak, Silesian Technical University, Gliwice, Poland The main goal of the study was to present the most significant technological innovations aiming at reduction of greenhouse gas emission in steel production. Reduction of greenhouse gas and dust pollution is a very important aspect in the iron and steel industry. New solutions are constantly being searched for to reduce greenhouse gases (GHG). The article presents the most recent innovative technologies which may be applied in the steel industry in order to limit the emission of GHG. The significance of CCS (CO2 Capture and Storage) and CCU (CO2 Capture and Utilization) in the steel industry are also discussed.

Survey on Greenhouse Gas Emissions in the Steel Industry in Zimbabwe
Climate change is one of the greatest challenges worldwide. Its most severe impacts may still be avoided if efforts are made to transform current energy systems. The notion of climate change mitigation refers to the reduction of the rate of climate change via management of its causal factors such as the emission of greenhouse gases from fossil fuel combustion, agriculture, land use changes, cem...
متن کاملIntegral Energy and Materials Policy for Cheaper Greenhouse Gas Reduction
This paper discusses results from the MATTER project (MATerials Technologies for greenhouse gas Emission Reduction). The goal of the project is to provide more insight into the potentials to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in Western Europe through changes in the production of materials and the use of materials. GHG emission reduction is one of the key environmental problems for the susta...
متن کاملTechnology Development, Energy Consumption, Greenhouse Gases Emission and Environmental Pollution in Aluminium Industries
Aluminium is the world’s second most-used metal after steel and the aluminium production industry is the largest, in volume of metal produced, in non-ferrous metal industry. In this study, results of the material flows (country and global scales) related to the production and use of aluminium and energy consumption in 1980 to 2012 were separately analysed. Also, overview of the current status o...
متن کاملComparison of energy consumption and greenhouse gas emission footprint caused by agricultural products in greenhouses and open field in Iran
Decisions can be taken to increase energy efficiency and to mitigate the emissions to the environment by examining the energy audit and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions footprint of crop production in different ways and in different regions, with comparable principles. In this study, energy consumption and energy indices of tomatoes production in four regions of Iran including East Azerbaijan...
متن کاملEstimation of gas emission released from a municipal solid waste landfill site through a modeling approach: A case study, Sanandaj, Iran
Sanitary landfill is the common strategy for municipal solid waste management in developing countries. Anaerobic decomposition of disposed wastes in landfill under favorable conditions will lead to the landfill gas (LFG) emissions, considering as emerging air pollutants. The emission of greenhouse gases, including methane, resulting from municipal solid waste disposal and treatment processes ar...
